I received the Rayner chinos and they didn’t work out. I felt like I was pulling a pair of Dickies work pants out of the bag. They were more promising once I opened them up, but the color is dull. Some will find it a great, blank canvas. It’s a conflict with my skin tone. The rise wasn’t flattering on my mid-section. It also felt very high. If you have a short torso, these likely aren’t for you. The wide leg flow begins rather high, so if you can fill out a pair of bottoms, you might like these. I liked the way the back looked just fine. I carry weight there and not on the sides. I’m 5’0″, btw, so the length and look of these were more of an experiement than anything.
However, I also received the Rayner wide-leg jean in crescent wash and those were a different story. The rise seems a little shorter. It’s still pushing it as far as not as flattering as Loft jeans (my fave), but they work. It’s definitely a look, but if I wear them right away, I’m on trend and can pull them off. I think they would look great with an off-the-shoulder or one-shoulder sweater, the striped strappy high heels sandals (LOVE! tts) and the tortoise and pavé earrings. Those are on the heavy side, so more for event wear than all-day for me. You’ll need the slim, plastic back support that comes with it. The backing itself is on the large side, which does offer a bit of extra support than a regular sized earring backing. Oh, and contrary to someone’s review on the site, the wash on the pair I received look like the stock pic.
There are new cuts as of yesterday, including the silk clip dot top (now $69.99), which I reviewed here.
