J. Crew’s sleeveless tunic sweater (FA16, F4132, $59.50) runs XXXS – XXL. Color choices are dark poppy, ivory and vivid ink (navy). It’s a cotton/nylon/merino wool blend. I didn’t grab the exact % breakdown.
Size S – ivory – The fit was TTS for me. It isnt’ fitted to the body in the torso area, so it was more flattering than I expected. The neckline is a higher scoop, but I didn’t feel like it made my neck look a lot shorter. This color is lighter for late summer/early fall and the fabric isn’t too light or too heavy. A good, transitional fall piece.
ETA: Before I saw this, I ordered the BP sleeveless sweater (S) during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. I love it. In my head I picture it with faux fur leggings or J. Crew’s leather tuxedo stripe pixie pants (FA13).
I liked the sleeveless sweater with the Coldwater Creek necklace (old) I had on that day and the Sammie chinos I tried on (29). The Sammies are true-to-size (tts) and I love them. I wore them last nite. They felt just a little cropped on me and I’m 5’0″. If you’re short and your inseam is short, you might prefer the petite length. I like the regular length. I’m in the burnished moss color. LOVE the Sammies.

Chime in…
These are two of my favorite items from the last roll-out. Thanks for the reviews. I saw a couple of reviews that recommended sizing down in the sweater tunic, but it looks great in your regular size. I was wondering if it would be too tight, less tunic-like if I sized down.
Love the Sammies on you. I’ve been debating between ordering the petite or the regular. Looks like the regular length works well with heels.
I’m really looking forward to the roll-out on Tuesday. Thanks for the link to the pre-order items.
maryeb – Definitely consider heels. I know I would almost never wear flats with chinos, so regular it was for me. I think the sweater is meant to feel a little looser, so it’s up to you if you wantt o get a closer fit or not. Thanks for visiting!
Whoa, Gigi. That outfit is so easy & chic!! (Shoes and necklace complement perfectly.) Hadn’t even noticed that tunic. You’re right about those Sammies — I tried them on when they first debuted and liked them right away. Currently eyeing them in the Cabernet color (i would go for those olive green/burnished moss , but I already have a few pairs of chino styles in a similar color.) Like you, I think I prefer them in the Regular length.
Looking forward to the new roll-out! Just got my rewards this past weekend and contemplating which goody to apply it to. Have a fab Monday!
Tati – I forgot to mention and will have to go back and add…but I got BP sleevelss sweater the from the Nordstrom Anniversary sale in black. I have a fantasy outfit in my head of it with faux leather leggings.
I wish I’d gotten a hold of that catalog over the weekend. Lucky are the JCAs who get them early. Have fun w/your rewards card!
Gigi – are you going to review the stripe ruffle sleeve top that is shown behind you in the pic? I haven’t had a chance to visit in store and we typically wear the same size so I am curious how it fits. Thanks!
Hi Caryl —
I loved the stripe top when I tried it on. I sized up one to M. When I went to order it last week they only had the blue, but I didn’t see that was the item ordered thru customer service until after I got home from the store. I just recvd it yesterday and am not a fan. It grabs at my stomach and just doesn’t look as good on me in blue as the black. I don’t think I’m going to stalk the black as there are other items that will be released this fall. I’m sure something else will catch my eye. That said, I do recommend it. The knit is a nice weight and the ruffles are less flouncy than the canvas-y cotton one from spring..the one that they made the dress in as well (review).
Gigi — if you get a chance, I’d LOVE for you to offer your thoughts on that JC Spaghetti-Strap dress that debuted during the previous/end-of-summer rollout. It comes in Polka-dot and Multri-brush stroke pattern. I am wearing it today and i totally thought of you b/c it’s one of those items that gives me that ‘feeling’. (or ‘feenin’, as Jodeci would say — i totally got that song stuck in my head as I started to write this!) Love, love, LOVE! As it happened, I’d been on the hunt for a polka-dot number in this exact color, so when this one came along, i tried resisting at first, (how ridick!) but eventually I caved. Glad i did b/c I love this thing more than I’ve loved an item of clothes in a while! (Also managed to get a PA since it was included in some sale). Also, I did order it in Petite — the Regular fit up top but neared floor-length levels for me (OK, exaggeration, but it ended mid-calf, no good.) Oh and the silk is really nice, too!! Another reviewed sair it’s b/c it’s ‘silk twill’ so i bet that’s what it is — it doesn’t have that scratchy/rough finish that some silks have had of late. Recommend!
Hey Tati – I think you got the Ratti happy cat print dress. It’s really cute, but wasn’t a match for me. My mid-torso area wasn’t having it. I wasn’t surprised. I really love the Ratti floral print and the ruffle sleeve (?) top worked well for me. I’ve seen it in the polka dot and it’s pretty. I would probably be trying to figure out how it could work for me if it were in stripes. My weakness. Hope you are well.
The navy blue and white polka-dot version is actually the one i bought (I didn’t realize it was the same style as the Ratti Happy Cat!) Polka dots and stripes can be such a weakness!
Gigi, was just looking at Sale items and saw the Happy Cat sundress — it’s actually not the same cut/style as the Polka Dot one. I wanted to mention that because that might affect the fit, especially in the torso area. Polka dot has an elasticized waist (in the back only) and pleats that are sewn down in the front so it keeps the skirt from billowing out awkwardly and allows it to taper nicely. Happy cat does have pockets, one thing that might have made Polka complete!
Hi Tati — thanks for coming back and sharing those detail differences. I like when they use elastic on the backs of dresses. Hope you have a good week 🙂
