I don’t know exactly what I was doing up at 2am the other nite, but I was online per usual. I found myself ordering in the additional 60% off final sale section at J. Crew. The promo is good thru Sun, 6/14.
I woke up 5 hours later and felt a little shopping hangover when I remembered that I’d ordered the ..
Cinched tank top (SP15, C1930, $55) runs XXXS – XL. Color choices are heather steel indigo, neon lime, spring peri and white. 100% cotton Machine wash.
Size S – heather steel indigo – This looked grey in-person. This stripe pattern usually doesn’t work for me. The size was fine, so tts. These haven’t moved at all online. It was $44.99 in-store on 4/3. It’s now $39.99 online. Nets $16 with SHOPNOW.
I thought the cinched front would be a hit. Or a miss. However, it wasn’t crystal clear whether it flattered me or not and that’s because of the back. The tag says 100% cotton, so I assume the front and back both are. The front is close to oxford cloth, but not heavy. The back is like a soft t-shirt. A fitted fabric for the back has been a cheap way to try to get the front to fit closer to the body. As opposed to incorporating details (e.g. seams).
As a reviewer pointed out online the back of the top shows all types of things, including fat if you’ve got it.
Size M – neon lime – I also brought in a size M with me just in case the small was too tight. I like this color a lot. J. Crew’s past neon/bright greens have too much green or yellow and some have been dull. One year the color came off like a used tennis ball. This one is bright aand spiffy.
Left pic is when I put the top on and simply took a photo. Right pic is after taking a moment to smooth the fabric down in the back. Much better.
Also contributing to my shopping hangover is the ribbed metallic cardigan sweater in white (S). I saw the white in-store awhile back and it has some small green flecks in the metallic mix that I didn’t like. I think I was expecting a white-white cardigan and it’s not when you examine it up close. However, the overall effect is white, but it didn’t do anything for my skin tone. Could be the green. I’m hoping I like it more at a net $14 with SHOPSALE.
Here’s a flashback to the shimmer navy in small. I haven’t worn it because I tucked it inside of the schoolboy blazer in navy to see how it would look. It looks good and blended so well that I forgot I put the two together.
