I’m usually only able to do a lap in Ann Taylor and leave, or walk very slowly by the window with the stroller. It felt like a special treat to be able to try on a few things yesterday. Their fall collection was strong and winter is looking beautiful as well. I’m not in a traditional office, but if I were I would look to Ann Taylor for stylish, modern, polished clothing. The following are phone pics. I’ll try to swap in camera pics that I also took.
Bow print Ann cardigan ($79.50) – Size S – I liked this size. I wouldn’t get PM. The bow print is cute. The colors are a little somber, but it was probably a good choice. The print might look odd if the bows were pure white. Some cute outfits could be made with this.
Bow tie shell – Size PM – This is $59.99 online vs $49.99 in-store. It also comes in a print. The top is thin, but I liked the fit. The bow is cute. The pleating that leads up to the bow is fine. I didn’t feel like it added weight to my chest.
Gallery sweater (323811, $98) – It’s currently $79.99 online vs $69.99 in-store. The faux leather sleeves looked fauxish on the hanger, but pretty good. I knew they werren’t leather. The look even better once you get the sweater on. The natural movement of your body fills out the sleeves and makes them look natural. I had to talk myself out of it.
I don’t know why the put that long zip on the side. It didn’t need the additional flare. A zip about 1/4 of the size would’ve been better. I didn’t find it to be very noticeable, though.
Jeweled neck halter top ($109) – Size 6 – This is a very pretty top. I don’t have the 2 buttons fastened at the back neck. It will fit just a little closer to the neck than you see here. Strapless bra is needed with this one. The top portion is sheer.
Shawl tuxedo jacket ($169) – Size 6 – It’s currently $129.99 online and in-store. Sale merch was an addtl 40% off yesterday, in-store. It’s currently an addtl 50% off online, no code needed. This size felt like the right size. 8P would be better, to dial in the sleeve length.
It’s good to know that it falls nicely when left open and unbuttoned. That would be the primary way I would wear it. Although it doesn’t look so flattering when caught from a bad side angle. If your chest is on the smaller side, the jacket won’t hang out that way. Of course my pose is a little exaggerated.
Lace print peplum top ($69) – Size M – This top is now $59.99 online vs $49.99 in-store. I saw this on the end of a rolling rack and grabbed it. If I’d seen a S, I would’ve brought that in to try, too. With the ponte peplums, you need to stay in your usual size, in most cases. The M seemed to fit right for me, though. I felt a small would get too tight. I’d have to try a S to be sure, though. My figure doesn’t really match up with peplums, so sometimes it’s hard for me to tell.
Shearling shawl collar jacket – I didn’t see this in-store, but I love how it looks online. I’ve been looking at it for awhile now. Sale items currently get 50% off, no code needed. Making it $90 at the moment. The model is gorgeous and absolutely helping to sell the look.
ANN3DA5 gets $50 off of $100. One-time use. It’s good thru today, 12/10. And yes, it works on sale items. I may or may not have used it myself. Heh.
It looks like the in-store sale prices are running about $10 cheaper than online sale prices. The % off is higher online, bringing the prices closer together once the addtl discount is applied. Does that even make sense? I can’t count the number of times I’ve nodded off while blogging and woke up to zzzzzzzzz typed on the screen. Sometimes I type actual words that are spelled correctly, but don’t make a real sentence. Or I’ll type something in my head that I’m half-dreaming about and has nothing to do with the post and wake up to that. So. Here’s some math:
Gallery sweater. $69.99 in-store + 40% = $41.99 vs. $79.99 + 50% = $39.99. Prices work out to be close to the same. For the moment. Ann Taylor likes to mix up things a bit, too. The good news is that once something is marked down, I believe it usually stays marked down.
