J Crew drapey side-slit dress in floral (HO15, $158) runs regular 000-16 (E5880), petite P00 – P12 (E6609) and tall T2 – T16 (E6610). The color is called black multi (BMU). 100% poly.
1/17/16 – $79.99
Size 4 – This dress is an online only item. I was lucky, lucky to be able to try it on in-store. The size 4 fit exactly and the dress is meant to be a little loose in the top. I would get a 6.
I love the v-neck and of course the pockets. The print and colors are great, too. For size reference, I’m 5’0″, 34DD, hip 39″. If you have a narrower waist than hips, the elastic will sit nicely in that area of your figure. I’m more straight between the waist and hips. The fabric is poly and I didn’t particularly care for the feel of it. It felt like poly. Not noisy poly. I think it wouldn’t be as much of an issue if I were in the right size. It’s definitely poly, though.
The v-neck felt fine to me. It’s open, but I didn’t feel exposed. Because the dress is small, it’s making me look more hip-y than I am. If there was a little more material, it would flow straight down. The dress is supposed to fit with more flow. I tried the perforated drapey side-slit dress last year in a 8P, which is a regular 6 equivalent. It didn’t work. A smaller torso area in the petite size meant that I lost the drape. It was too bad because the length was better in the petite than the regular size. If I were getting this dress, I would get a regular 6 and have it shortened.
The pic on the left is a good example of how the 4 isn’t quite the right size. Love that blue. And the pale crimson color. Pic on the right shows that the armholes aren’t too low. Yay for that. Adding a narrow belt might be nice.
The Feeling
I have an issue with the feel of the fabric, but that’s a personal taste. Love the print, colors and the cut. I wish it had worked for me.

* Boyfriend shirt in ridge plaid – Not final sale. On promo + GETSHOPPING.
* Cashmere scarf in plaid – $79.99 + GETSHOPPING
* Fair Isle classic turtleneck sweater– I tried on the XS and it fit, but the S would be better. TTS, imo.
* Gemma metallic flats– After reading about blisters and breaking in the Gemma patent flats, I got concerned that my tts of 7.5 was incorrect. It’s raining here, so I’ve only worn them indoors. They’re feeling great. Fit wise, I’m a 7.5 and usually take 7.5 in J Crew flats. I thought I would need an 8 because of the pointy toe, but that wasn’t the case.
