You’re invited to Macy’s semi-annual Men’s Style Event, which kicks off this Thursday. Macy’s is showcasing the latest fall trends for men at select flagship stores. Check event info to see if there is an event at a store near you. I was invited and will be attending! I’ll be at the Union Square store, which has celebrity stylist Keylee Sanders showcasing looks for men. The shopping party includes fashion (of course), refreshments and music. Stores always have music piping thru the ceiling speakers, but I particularly love it when there’s a DJ set-up for an in-store event. When you shop, you’ll save 25% off of your purchase of $75. The event is free.
George and I have talked about men’s fashion a number of times in the years I’ve been blogging. His viewpoint is that men’s fashion tends to stay the same. I agree, to a point. I think there’s a core foundation for men’s fashion. However, I think the silhouettes change. They don’t change as frequently as they do for women nor are there as many choices. But they do change. Speaking of silhouettes, I have yet to meet a man who likes slim buttondowns or slim pants. Let’s face it. So many of us are sedentary these days and not slim in certain areas. I see men in them, but I haven’t spoken personally with any men that say they love it.
Athleisure has not hit men’s fashion as much as it has women’s. Men in tech, such as programmers, have been wearing hoodies and jeans or cords for years. I consider that casual dress, which we have far too much of in California. The closest I’ve seen to men’s athleisure was a crewmember I worked with on a commercial in a pair of loose, legging-type pants with banded bottoms. It wasn’t leggings, though, and looked more martial arts or beach pants than athletisure. At any rate, I’ll be checking to see if athleisure is trending for men and checking to see how looks are put together for this event. Perhaps I’ll pick up some fresh ideas for George. Or even ones I can apply to my own looks. Here are some good looking classics.
