First up. A couple of coat reviews. I tried on the city grid coat ($298) the other day. It’s a spunky version of J. Crew’s stadium cloth cocoon coat. It reminded me of the coccoon, but with leather trim and the other minor differences. The scale isn’t right because of the oversize fit. The XS fit, but the sleeves didn’t. I can get things tailored, but I usually avoid buying things that need it.
Another coat I tried on was the Delancey blanket coat ($250). The two color options are beautiful I’d seen this one online earlier in the week and was curious about it in-person. It didn’t feel like a heavy coat. Good for fall, but not a cold winter. I tried the XS and the fit was fine, but the portrait-style collar is way too big and wide for me. I feel sized out of all of Madewell’s coats and have feel that way the past 2-3 years.
New Loyalty Program
If you’ve been purchasing online from Madewell in the past year, good news! You’re now a Madewell Insider. The notification popped up for me when I last went onto the Madewell site:
It looks like the first tier of the program, Madewell Insider, already includes basics that we already have: free hemming on jeans, free economy shipping and invitations to special events if the corporate office or your local area sends them to you via email. New perks include monogramming. That was only free at in-store events, right? Two more new perks include a birthday gift and free returns.
You move to the second tier and are a Madewell Muse if you spend $500+ in a year. Shipping moves from economy to standard shipping, which is nice. You also get a dedicated concierge line and the annual, collectible tote.
You’re in the third tier as a Madewell Icon if you spend $1000+ in a year. The shipping perk is now expedited shipping and you get a semi-annual gift.
What do you think of the new loyalty program? Have you purchased anything lately from Madewell?
