Fan fringe necklace ($9.50, Groopdealz) – I paid $15.99 + $3 or so shipping when it was offered in June. I felt fine paying that price with the quality received. Of course I wish I had paid $9.50 or at least gotten free shipping. I’m not sure who the vendor was for my necklace. I’ll start noting the vendor if/when I make future purchases. For this go-round, the vendor is listed as Groopdealz on the fan fringe.
I never tried JC’s fan fringe. Nevertheless, I think the Groopdealz version is pretty dern close, if not spot on. We associate costume jewelry weight w/quality and I think that’s fair. If it’s lighter, it’s more cheaply made. I didn’t have a necklace handy that was similar in the number of stones, but I had a J Crew retail bubble necklace handy and compared the two
My JC retail bubble weighs 5.2 oz vs Groopdealz fan fringe weight of 3.8 oz. Believe me, I am not a math person. And my mind is tangled tonite from reading about bots.txt files or something like that. I wave the white flag! But I can do this. The fan fringe is 73% of the weight of a retail bubble. The fan fringe feels light when I pick it up. Lighter than the bubble, so I was suprised that they were that close. The smallest stones on the fan fringe make a tinny sound when they bump together. However, they don’t feel cheap to the touch, not as cheap as they sound. And the chain doesn’t feel awfully cheap. I bought two of the beaded flower necklaces from Groopdealz, but I wouldn’t buy 2 of these. Like I said, I wasn’t a big fan of it to begin with. I just thought the colors of this would look good with some of the J Crew silk chiffon camis that I have & I don’t have any necklaces w/purple on them.
Tortoise flower necklace ($15.99, Madeline & Company) – And this is Groopdeal’s version of J Crew’s tortoise flower necklace. J Crew’s tortoise flower necklace is sold out online. If you see it in-store, it’s currently $49.99. I have the JC version. It’s cute and fun. Despite rave reviews I refused to try it on, thinking the flower shape was just too kitschy for me. Of course price wears me down and I caved. Happy I did, but like I said, it wasn’t something I’d been interested in at all prior to that. I’m not sure I would’ve purchased the Groopdealz if I didn’t have the J Crew version.
Thanks for stopping by!
