Hunter original tall boots are available at Costco for $79.99. Color choices are black, dark olive, navy and red. They’re matte. None of them are glossy, from what I’m seeing online. My store had grey and I didn’t get a chance to go close to them, much less try them on. You might check your store if you’re interested in that color. I ordered the boots online, received them earlier this week and put them aside. Our weather doesn’t have a drop of rain in the forecast, so I forgot all about them. Here we go.
The boots fit exactly in the foot rea. 7.5 would probably be ideal to wear it with a thick sock. 8 would be too big. Regarding the shaft…if you have any shape to your calf or a larger calf, they probably won’t work. I don’t consider my calves to be big, but they’re curved; not straight. Once the boot hit my calves, I had to push to continue to get the boots on. Because there’s no room for the boot to move near the top, it creates sort of a tether at the calf that makes the ankle part sag and bend when I walked. The boot is stuck at the calf, instead of being free to move fluidly from the top to ankle. Return. I like the matte red and I like the Hunter logo on them. They just don’t work for me, though. My calf measures 14.5″ at the widest part.
I reviewed Hunter Wellington boots early this year. They didn’t work either. I’m not sure what the difference is between the Wellingtons and the Original.
Here are some other Hunter options.
