J Crew’s Allie dress in aqua floral (99184, $198) is now $69.99. This dress is available online only, 00-14.
Size 4 – chest = 36″, waist 29″
Size 6 – chest = 37″, waist 30″
Size 8 – I tried on the solid Allie and the 6 fit very well. But, I tried it on after ordering the aqua floral in size 8. So here are pics of the size 8. It’s a little big in the torso area, which you can see just below the bust.
The dress feels about the same weight as the skirt version. Good for spring/summer/early fall where I live. I don’t see wearing it into winter, although you could probably layer under and make it happen if it isn’t too cold where you are. Tights, boots.
This is the seaming that I saw in the online pic. It made me think the cup size area would be limited, so I ordered an 8.
A little low under the arm. Again, this is the area I pay attention to when deciding between sizes. I also remember that wearing the right bra makes a difference in fit. I ain’t got on the right bra in this pic.
That’s the Factory crewneck card in casablanca blue, size S. It’s showing up as a bright blue, but it’s a little darker irl. Not quite as dark as the cobalt blue/brilliant blue, from what I recall. I wish the camera would pick it up accurately. It’s a great color & I recommend it. I wear Jackie cardi size S or M (depending on which is on sale in the b&m!), but would definitely take a M in the Factory version. It’s 100% cotton, fyi.
Always, always love pockets. They’re just about mandatory these days. Just returned a cute $20 skirt back to Talbots because it didn’t have pockets.
There are lots of colors to play with in this print. This is the patent leather skinny belt ($26.99) in crimson maple. That’s the size M, which is too big. I don’t like a lot of extra length after the buckle. Also, if I kept the M, I wouldn’t be able to belt it higher at the natural waist. So I re-ordered the S. Burgundy FA12 lovers, you will like this belt, esp if you are working w/J Crew’s burgundy colors, which have some warmth to them.
I wish I had time to put up pics of the Collection pencil skirt in abstract floral, which is the same print. I’ll have to do it another time. I loved the skirt as well, but figured the dress is more versatile. After all, I can throw a navy or black pullover on and voilà, a skirt is born.
Might come back to add a couple more comments…
