J Crew’s convertible toggle coat (HO13, 02568, $398) comes in brilliant flame, heather graphite & montclair navy online. Black is available in-store. 80% wool, 20% nylon, 100% poly lining.
Size 4 – black – Of course I figured this is navy. You know how dark J Crew’s navy is. The size 4 fit perfectly. It didn’t feel too long, but I’m sure the petite would be a better length. I love the toggles. Love the hood. so preppy. “Old J Crew,” as we like to say.
The black skinnies I have on are Old Navy Rockstar from SP10, size 8P. For reference, I take 29 in J Crew jeans. And 29/8P in my beloved Loft modern straight jeans, which are currently on promo for $35 (review). I really, really love these ON Rockstars and I’m glad I recently found them. They’re thin, though and it’ll be nice to have the Loft jeans modern straight in black& modern skinnies in black. I’m committed to jeans & sweatshirts for the fall season. Hopefully the Loft jeans will work out and I can put them in rotation.
Back to the toggle coat. A closer shot of the toggles. And the sleeves were tight. Too tight for a thick sweater. I tried it on w/a Tippi, but that’s a lightweight/medium sweater. I think they cut them too narrow if you have a need for heavy layering.
Here’s the jacket relaxed a little bit on the left and fully open on the right. I love how it kept its shape even when unzipped all the way. And a better shot of the jeans. They’re very slimming, even in the thigh area. Hopefully they haven’t changed the fit too much from 2010 if you’re interested in trying them.
I preferred it with the hood. The hood is so cute. However, it did still look good and fit well without it.
The whole family can get this look!
Crewcuts toggle puffer ($148)
Seamount toggle coat (11745, $325)
I just realized the convertible toggle is $398! What do you think about that?
