Factory sequin-stripe sweater (HO13, 06142, $98) comes in heather dusk ivory (HDI) and heather vintage berry (HVB). Sizes run XXS – XL. 37% viscose, 35% nylon, 28% merino wool.
Size S – I tried on the XS in berry on another run. Unfortnately I deleted those pics by accident. It was too tight, so tts on this one. The pale grey is nice. Mama likes grey.
It’s a scattered sequin pattern. Like a constellation. Only not one I like. It tends to look messy when the sequins are sparse like this. There’s more thread than shine. It is a more subtle sparkle, though, and you might prefer that. I don’t recall the fabric being itchy. Many of the latest Crewlet offerings have been identical to retail, except for the fabric. This is more of what I’m used to. A very scaled down version of the design when it goes to Factory. They cheaped out on this one. They should’ve duped it exactly. The thicker fabric or at least the more dense sequins would’ve been nice.
This is last year’s version. The pic on the right is of my fit twin, Audreybella of Life Is Short, Buy the Shoes. When I finally decided I wanted the sweater, it was sold out.
Factory scattered-sequin sweater (HO13, 06035, $98) comes in graphite navy and poppy navy (PNA). 37% viscose, 35% nylon, 28% merino wool.
ETA: $59.97 in-store noted 11/16
Size S – I quite liked how this looked & felt on. No itchiness that I recall.
Last year’s version on the left. This year’s version on the right. They really improve on design when the items are re-released to Factory. The sleeves and body of the Crewlet version are definitely longer. It’s a leaner look. The band is thinner at the Crewlet neck, but I don’t mind that.
Factory merino Charley sweater (HO13, 93577, $69.50) comes in black, brilliant cobalt, dublin green, heather burgundy, heather grey, maraschino cherry, marled camel sweet lemon and vibrant fuchsia. Size choices are XXS – XL. 100% merino wool. This is the Factory version of the merino Tippi.
Size S – I love this maraschino cherry color. I think it has a warmer tone to it more than a cool tone. It didn’t read as orange-y, though. Fit was fine, so tts. Without comparing them side-by-side, I’d guess that the Charley is a smidge lighter in weight than the Tippi.
Factory Donegal shawl collar cardigan (FA13, 05340, $98) is from the men’s department. It comes in fawn donegal and twilight donegal (dark blue). 80% lambswool, 20% nylon.
Size S – fawn donegal – A rollout or two ago, I ordered a Factory lambswool dotted sweater, thinking it was from the womens dept. Since then, Caroline of Caroline’s Day (Instagram) & I have been talking about men’s cardis. For us. When I saw this I had to try it. I’m certain I couldn’t pay Senor G Money to wear a cardigan. Just not his thang. I loved the look w/the cropped Loft jeans, 28″ inseam. These exact ones are from summer and are sold out.
ETA: There’s a grey version of the cardi above. The lambswool three-pocket donegal cardigan.
I haven’t given up on J Crew retail. The Factory items simply more interesting and the price points definitely easier to swallow. They really lost me with a lot of the masculine vibe I kept feeling on the last rollout. I have lots of reviews in the hopper. I keep hoping for big blocks of time to get caught up with everything, including the latest sale items. In due time.
You may or may not have noticed that I’ve edited my photos a little differently. I find that I take tons and tons of photos and could review more by doing a little less. So no watermarks on 98% of the pics and I’ve spliced them together, instead of running them vertically down the page. The splicing was inspired by one of my blog inspirations, Roxy of Effortless Anthropologie. Be sure to check out her $1,000 Blogaversary Giveaway. Congratulations on 5 years, Roxy!
