J Crew chambray scalloped top with grommets (SP16, $98) runs regular 00 – 12 (E8746), petite P00 – P10 or higher (F0115) and tall T? – T? (F0179). The color is called chambray multi (CMU). 100% cotton, exclusive of decoration. Machine wash tumble dry low. Gotta love that. Dry clean if preferred.
5/4/15 – Now $69.99
Size 6 – I’d been looking at this on the website, and although the design details are interesting, I wasn’t particularly interested in trying it on. The look was a nice surprise. It’s cute.
A quick note about my photos. My store moved last year and although it’s a brand new store, the lighting is not as good as the previous location. The lighting casts shadows. I don’t know how to Photoshop, so I don’t try to lighten the photos. I always hope that between the stock and my photo, you can get an idea of accuracy.
Size 6 – This fit tts for me. For size reference, I’m 34DD and 5’0″. My torso is more average than short and the blouse length is also taken up by my stomach. Real talk. To state it another way, if my torso were shorter and/or my stomach flattter, I might want the petite because I’d need less length. It’s not likely, though. Even when I weighed less, I tended to prefer regular sizes.
Here’s the reverse. A hidden zipper. Aren’t they so pretty?

J Crew striped t-shirt with pom-poms (SP16, F0088, $55) runs XXX – XL. I was surprised to see that it only comes in one color, called (NNA). 100% cotton exclusion of decoration/trimming. Made in the Philippines.
5/4/15 – Now $34.99
Size S – Let’s deal with the first potential drawback. That drop shoulder. I actually didn’t mind it. I was going to drop my usual #stripsick disclaimer, reminding you that I’m prone to easily loving stripes.
However, I think why this works is because the pattern shifts from vertical to horizontal at the seam there on the arm. If you look hard enough, you can see a short sleeve tee, with very long gloves. Do you see it?
For size reference, I’m 5’0”, 34DD. I really liked the length, which covers the crotch area. J. Crew’s signature poms add a nice trim. I’m bummed that I didn’t go ahead and get this, but I really don’t need another striped top. I didn’t notice sizes going in it. Perhaps it was snapped up very quickly once it went on sale. I know it went from all sizes available from the time of release and practically overnite it went on sale and out of stock. Drat.

The Feeling
In other news…
I’m bummed that I accidentally deleted irl pics of the mixed gingham sandals with ankle wrap. I tried a 7.5, thinking that the open style might be fine for my foot. I’m usually an 8 in J. Crew pumps and wedges. This was a really, really close fit. The length of the shoes fit exactly. I absolutely don’t like my foot hanging over the sole at the toe or heel in any kind of way, so I returned them. The 8 is on backorder and I’m in line. They are truly beautiful.

Hey Alice. The pom pom shirt is sold out, but pops back on occasion in sizes. Did you order the chambray grommet top or the red one?
That hidden zipper really is a thing of beauty, isn’t it! ; )
Good point on the short-sleeve tee hiding in those dropped sleeves – I think that’s the same reason that the deck-striped tee works on me. When the drop is just a little off the shoulder it goes straight into linebacker territory on me.
silver_lining – The drop shoulder works well on the anrrow shouldered. Usually, anyone average or broad shouldered is suited up to be on the team with you, and that includes me. lol I have the deck-stripe tee in the pink color. I might return it because I haven’t worn it. I probably would’ve been better off adding yet another stripe top to my drawer.
Hope your little one is well. We’re off for 7 school days, 11 days including weekends. Someone made a limbo with two chairs and a jump rope, then proceeded to ride her bike underneath it with her favorite stuffed dog. That lasted about 20 minutes and was only day two. Wish me luck!
Best of luck to you – and Happy Mother’s Day! 4 is… a challenge, especially with a little one that thinks she’s an adult because there are no other kids in the house. At least the weather is good enough to spend more time outside – that really helps on the long days without school and weekends. : )
Can’t tell you how much I enjoy your posts, they’re informative, fun and your humor pops through (the hidden zipper thing made me laugh!) You’re right, this is one of those tops that is even cuter and flattering once you put it on. I looked over it, but now I’m seeing it in a new light. Particularly like the scallop details at the arm holes. The length is also nice.
I think I feel about dropped shoulders the way you do about exposed zippers, grrr, no bueno. Though this shirt is cute, but I could do without it (I bought a few of the mid weight striped shirts from this winter in Red and blue – love it so much that I bought a backup of the blue one!)
Oh, that’s too bad about the Gingham heels, pls post if you’re able to buy them again!
Have a spectacular time with Mini G! (The image of the bicycle, stuffed animals limbo is too much!!)
