Puff Moments…Well, of course I watched the USA/Canada hockey game live. For some reason, I decided to focus exclusively on the game in the last 2 minutes, so I was able to see the amazing goal scored by Zach Parise/USA in the last 25 seconds of the game. Talk about having a fantastic moment in one’s career. USA goalie Ryan Miller was pretty awesome. He blocked 183 shots during the entire tournament. And of course Canadian Sid Crosby scored the phenomenal, winning goal. Surely some future children will be going to Sid Crosby Elementary, and so on. It was a little disappointing to see USA lose. However, I do think the Universe would be a little off kilter if Canada had lost on home ice. I was happy for them. It ended the way it was supposed to.
It’s kind of funny to watch some of the medal ceremonies. In the case of the hockey games, the silver medalists are not too excited to win silver. They look like sad little kids up there. It’s always nice to see them later, after the sting has lessened and they are able to appreciate what they were able to achieve. Overall, I enjoyed watching all of the highlights of the past 16 days. What a phenomenal time.
The Americans looked amazing in their Ralph Lauren gear for the closing ceremony. I silently boo hoo’d as they walked in. It was so great to watch their happiness & pride. I imagined they were trying to take it on all in. Not just on their digital cameras & videos, but in their hearts. I sure hope so. I think this is going to be one of the most memorable Olympics in my mind of all the ones I’ve watched.

J Crew’s grand ruffle shell is unique in some ways, but not really anything to write home about. I’d say it’s cute overall, but I wasn’t excited by it and the tulle at the bottom probably doesn’t want to be tucked in. I didn’t try, though. There have been comments on The Mothership about J Crew going the way of Forever 21. I didn’t really see the correlation, but after trying on this top, I get it. In the past, J Crew consistently provided unique patterns and a certain style aesthetic. The other great thing about former J Crew pieces is they are classics and definitely lasted more than a season. It’s tops like these that don’t fall into the same category. Now the designers seem intent on slathering some sort of embellishment on the same silk or cotton cami silhouette and charging $45 – $88. I agree that something like this could be found at F21 or other retailers for much cheaper. I have to say that J Crew probably feels the need to have tops like these so people will be attracted to try the brand, but it would nice if they could come up with something unique rather than recycling the same ruffle styles. And don’t get me started on the art tees. I thought it was a b&m Cafe Press when I was in the store the other nite. Of course I will still continue to share irl pics, but I am becoming much more discriminating about what I personally keep from J Crew.
