J Crew’s herringbone stripe tunic (17220, $78) runs from XXS to ? The color is called navy (NAV). It’s now $44.99 online. It was marked marked $49.99 in-store when I tried it on.
Size S – chest = 43″
Size M – chest = 45″
Size XS – It looked big on the hanger, so I tried XS. A couple of tunics I tried earlier this year were large, so I thought sizing down was a good idea. Not. S would’ve fit better. This tunic has more design elements to it, like the chest pockets and banded (?) cuffs.
Close-up of the print. I guess that’s herringbone & those are stripes. It’s more like an arrow pattern to me.
Ccotton voile cubist tunic – size XS (03908, $75) runs XXS – L for sure. Not sure if it came in XL. The color is called navy (NAV). It’s currently $49.99 online, marked $49.99 in-store.
Size XS – This size looks ok, but it was too tight across the back shoulder & back arm areas. I didn’t like the shirttail hem. It wasn’t memorable. I might feel different if I were in a different size.
Shoulder seam gathering sometimes adds weight in the chest. I didn’t find that to be the case. However, I was in a size too small. I would get S, not XS.
I didn’t buy any J Crew retail tunics this year. Many of them were fitted in the upper part and very loose in the bottom. Too loose, which made the top part feel even more strange. I also didn’t like the shoulder gathering, which was a recurring theme. The best tunics were the gauzy, printed ones from Factory. I have 3 of those and love them.
