Martie pant in sequin herringbone (HO15, $128) run regular 000 – 16 (E4920), petite P000 – P12 (E5493) & tall T2 – T16 (E5996). Dry clean.
- Sits just above hip.
- Fitted through hip and thigh, with a slim, cropped leg.
- 26 1/4″ inseam.
Size 8 – There were only 3 pairs left and I tried on two of them. The SA said they flew out of the store.
Given my experience with the Martie pant in bi-stretch cotton, I decided to try an 8. There was also a 6 on the table, so I tried that as well (not pictured). Couldn’t zip them up but I had to take them into the fitting room just to be sure.
The white dots you see on the pants are ** sparkles **. They’re sparkly, but subtle because the size is small. Color and sparkle are two things J. Crew does very well. These do not disappoint.
Side-zip pants are tricky for those of us with a mom flap or similarly related stomach woes. Despite the wrinkles you see in the front hip area, I felt comfortable and pretty in these pants. They would be excellent for an office holiday party.
See the sparkles? I call these the starry night pants. I’m 5’0″ and am convinced I have a slightly longer than average inseam for my height. I often go for a regular, but I do vacillate between petite and regular when J. Crew is intended a cropped or slightly cropped look.
What ends up happening is that the petite is just a tad bit shorter than I’d like it to be and visually makes my leg shorter than it is. Which is the point w/the style of a cropped look, but it shouldn’t make your leg look shorter. I would stick with the regular size 8 because I would always wear heels (right pic) with these.
Martie pant with tux stripe in glen plaid (HO15, $128) run regular 000 – 16 (E1579), petite P000 – P12 (E2735) and tall T2 – T16 (E2741). 70% wool, 30% poly, faux leather sides: 100% polyester w/polyurethane coating. Dry clean.
Size 6 – I was able to get them on and zip them up, which surprised me. It didn’t feel like they were going to rip, but it was a tight fit. As mentioned, that side-zip is not a great match if your stomach/front hip area isn’t flat. So they bunch in the crotch. I’m hiding it with the Tippi sweater in black (M).
The print & the faux leather.
I agree w/online reviewers that they run at least one size small. I didn’t sit in them, but also agree there’s no stretch. On the upside, it’s a classic print and the faux leather is done well. Glen plaid lovers will love.
