Martina patent wedges in dark aubergine (50472, $228) have been sold out for awhile. are currently on sale for $159.99. The other online sale color is dark aubergine. A major fail on J Crew’s part for not having the correct stock pic up for dark flannel. They have showed blue sea, instead of dark flannel.
Now here’s what’s very interesting. Many JCAs have reported ordering the Factory Sylvia patent wedges and receiving these retail Martinas. Remember that almost all Factory shoes (that I’ve ever come across) are man-made; not leather. Man-made is what JCAs were expecting and Made in Italy leather is what they’re receiving. They’re currently $54.99 online + 40% off w/SALE40, bringing them to around $33. Today is the last day for the code.
Size 8 – Same fit story as usual. I am a 7.5 and take my J Crew usual shoe size of 8 in these. Check them out on Petite Ph.D.
Toe cleavage. They look squished in the pics, but they don’t feel that way. I never look down, so I don’t care.
Let’s talk about color. When they’re next to a bright, true red pair, the Martinas look considerably brown.
Here are my burgundy Talbots bow stacked heel in dark candy (2012). It’s decidedly burgundy and makes the Martinas look less so.
However, as you can see, the dark aubergine does read as burgundy. It’s just very dark.
In case you skimmed up above, I’ll repeat.
If you order the Factory Sylvia patent wedges, you should receive the retail Martinas. Man-made is what JCAs were expecting and Made in Italy leather is what they’re receiving. They’re currently $54.99 online + 40% off w/SALE40, bringing them to around $33. Today is the last day for the code.
The following colors are long gone, but I also reviewed the apricot mist, dark flannel and soft desert. In case you go hunting on Ebay or come across some crazy popbacks. It happens.
