I love J. Crew. A store staff member recently introduced me to another as “a loyal customer.” It’s true. I review J. Crew all up and down this blog. I’m not shopping for myself in every case. I’m curious about clothes and love sharing what I think about them. I get really excited when I can review things that only hit select stores. I try to be very neutral because I see things that I dislike personally looking very cute in Instagrams. But now? Now it’s getting tougher to be neutral when they’re putting things out that are almost upsetting.
me 2 u tee (HO14, B7525) runs XXS – XL. The color is callled heather smoke. I thought this might be a special collab piece at a low price, but not according to the web description:
Size S – My hands were hovering over the keys as I struggled with how to start this. Ok, I love grey and like the heathering even though it’s at an odd diagonal slope. I like metallic gold and even like the quirky font for the 2, which reminds me of Prince or Willy Wonka (the old version forever, we refuse to watch Johnny Depp’s). The neck is boyish and too high. It will be fine if you have a longer neck.
WTH is me 2 you? Juvenile, that’s what. Twee. I don’t get it. I don’t care who I see it on and don’t care that it probably matches well with other J. Crew gear, past & present. It won’t win me over. I thought it was stupid when I saw it on the rack, but tried it on to see if I would feel otherwise. No, no and no.
Fringe sleeve sweater (HO14, B3713, $138) runs XXS – XL. The color is called heather carbon (HCA). 100% merino wool. From the website:
There’s no zipper. Pull over the head.
Size XS – It looked like a whole lot of sweater, so I chose to try a size down one from what I usually wear. It was the right call. You can see the extra material at the under arm.
Basically the same shot as above. The fringe is in focus. And I’m just a gold foil skirt and pair of snakeskin shoes away from slapping Alexis Carrington.
Granted, this could look cute on someone who has narrow shoulders. If I stretch my imagination, I can see it.
However, the fringe didn’t give me any fashionable feelings. I felt like I was changing into…
I don’t know what else to say.
* beaded chevron popover in white ($98) – review – Thumbsup.
* beaded chevron shirt in black watch plaid ($98) – review – Thumbsup.
* boyfriend flannel shirt in red plaid ($88) – Size 8 was the closest for me to try. I’d get a 6 – review – Thumbsup.
