J Crew’s silk shift dress in polka dot (E8903, $168) runs 000 – 12. 100% silk exclusive of decoration/trimming, 100% poly lining. The color is navy (NAV).
Size 6 – This fit tts for me. I take 6 most often in j. Crew dresses. The silhouette it similar to the Jules, but they improved upon the shift. Similiarities include the basic silhouette and the pockets. They improved the fit on this dress, making it fit with a bit more shape to the body, but it’s still a shift. Not as sack-like as some of them can be.
I liked the neckline, which was an open envelope style. The triple stitching adds interest at the neckline and wrists. The polka dots are a nice size. Not too big or small. And no rear zip! I think the dress has some outfit material with print scarves, boots, heels….
The body is lined. The sleeves are not.
It’s a nice dress. I like that it’s silk. The poly lining is expected. It’s not a straight thumbsup because I think the design team has better ideas than this one. Although the fit is an improvement over the Jules, fact that they’re rehashing this feels a bit lazy. A different style of dress produced with this fabric would’ve been nice. I would consider this, personally, on a 2nd cut. I’d try to stay away from it because I wouldn’t want to fuss with styling to bump it up.

Belted dress in black and white tweed ($168) runs regular 000 – 16 (E8495), petite P00 – P12 (F1554) and tall T2 – T12 (F1555). 42% poly, 31% cotton, 24% viscose, 2% other fibers, 100% poly lining.
Size 6 – I immediately snapped a pic without the belt. I was curious how it would look. It’s ok. You could swap out the belt for contrast, if you want something different than the tweed belt that comes with it. Another one with no exposed back zip. Yes!
My waist has never been very discernible, so I don’t expect ties like this to look good without some effort. This one looked pretty good without manipulating the belt too much. For size reference, I’m 5’0″, 34Dd, 39″ hip. The size 6 felt good. I think it runs just a little loose/not tight. The skirt has a slight A-line shape. Not too exaggerated. I like the slightly curved split hem. Notice that cap sleeve. I like it. If you don’t like your arms, you might not be a fan of a shorter sleeve like this.
