Split-neck dress in windowpane (HO13, $228) runs regular 00-14 (07450), petite 00-12 (07452) and tall 0-14 (07453). The color is called black (BLA). 82% wool, 18% silk, 100% poly lining. It’s currently on promo, 12/27 for $198. I saw it marked $149.99 in-store on 12/26.
Size 8 – I just went for the 8 since it looked to have a form fitting waist, as opposed to a shift cut. I would have to get the shoulders altered up. I was fairly bloated the other day. Check it out on Audreybella.
Here’s a close-up on the skirt. There’s room if you have hips. The ideal size for me would be 6 and it wouldn’t be as wide in the hip area. To give you an idea of how much extra room there is, I pulled the skirt back in the right-hand photo. It’s not a ton of extra room. It’s that the cut is not a straight pencil skirt, which is why I believe there will be room if you have hips. Or, in my case, add weight. If I bought this I would get the shoulders altered & I’d get the skirt taken in just a little, too.
Here’s the split. Right-hand photo pointing out how low it goes. I’m a 36C. I didn’t feel it was super low. It will depend on how your cleavage looks. It might be a good time for a minimizer to bring everything in. I like Wacoal.
A JCA mentioned that the fabric seemed stiff and though it might be wrinkle prone. I would describe the fabric as sturdy. It felt fine moving in it. It didn’t stay in one place while I moved in another direction, if that makes sense. And it wasn’t noisy. I though the poly lining was cheap feeling. It didn’t feel silky like some other polys. I only sat in the dress for a minute and the wrinklage wasn’t bad when I got up. Of course one minute is nothing like sitting in a meeting or at a desk for a period of time.
Side shot. Another area where I look to gauge if I’m in the right size or not. At this point in time, I’d definitely get an 8.
Swiss dot dress (HO13, 07190, $198) – Color choices are black an dark peony. It’s currently on promo 12/27 for $178 online. 79% silk, 21% cotton, 100% poly lining. The black was marked $159.99 in-store on 12/27.
Size 8 – Another one with a fitted waist, as opposed to a straight one. So I chose to try on the larger of my J Crew dress sizes. I didn’t recall seeing this one on the website. I have to say J Crew dresses are rarely in my radar since they’re not particulary flattering on me. I blame the current dress designers. They’re missing the mark.
Up close. This is another case where bra choice can make a difference. A lift makes the torso look longer and leaner.
Close-up of the swiss-dots. You can also see the nutmeg and periwinkle/pale cobalt colors in the print.
