J Crew’s tipped swiss dot top (FA13, $135) runs in regular 00-16 (03535) & petite 00-12 (04727). The color is called ivory black (IBL). 75% silk, 25% poly.
Size 4 – I couldn’t get the top & skirt positioned to look good. You get the idea of the top tucked in, though. I forgot to photograph it outside of the skirt so you can see the length. I tried it on w/the no. 2 pencil skirt in tipped double-serge wool (6). I reviewed the better fitting size 4 in this post.
Sleeve length. I’m 5’2, so I’m thinking the sleeves runs just a tad short. J Crew really wants us to buy & show off their bracelets. It felt a little blousy at the at the forearm. I’d be curious to see what a 6P felt like in thru the arm and arm length. I should mention that I’ve lost 3-4 lbs since I took these photos. I wouldn’t take a smaller size than 4, though.
I’m going thru some non-blog related challenges and am very drained. I would blog about it if I had time. Maybe in the near future. The thing is, once things pass I like to keep moving and not revisit unless necessary. It’s pretty important though, so I hope to share in the future. On the work front, it’s been a snoozefest all year until the past couple of weeks. 4th quarter! I’m very busy w/work & very happy about that. Of course that also takes time & energy, not to mention my husband & daughter. I’m sharing all this because I want you to know that I do see emails and I do see most of the comments on The Mothership . If you ask me something in a thread & I don’t respond, send an email or ask in another thread. It’s really not a bother and I’m not offended by a repeat request for information. Pihwoah Lulu recently asked me twice about a top and I think the oen I reviewed above is the one. Someone else & I were communicating about suiting and I dropped my end of that conversation. I know she figured it, but I still felt bad. There were a few cuts & promo items yesterday on J Crew, but I haven’t finished those either. I try to do what I have time for and not feel guilty that I can’t do it all. It’s a blog, I know. It’s clothes. I know. But we also know how tough we can be on ourselves as women. I’m very aware of things I said I’d blog about and simply haven’t gotten around to. For example…
The Tilda-like rhinestone blouse. I thought I’d be a 6 or 8 & ended up with size 10 in blue. Love it.
I want to do a review of Phillip Lim for Target, but not sure I’ll get to that either. The black mini Pashli is on its way and I’m sure I’m keeping it. I have the gold, but it doesn’t really go with my wardrobe. My mom may end up keeping it. I think some of these collabs are genius for the designers’ regular lines. I’m entertaining the red leather mini Pashli as a very special treat waaay down the line. As in 2014, if it’s still available. Back to Target — I ordered the Boom sweatshirt online & saw it not too many hours later at the store. The grey was darker irl and I’m not sure I’ll like it on. I didn’t get a chance to try it. I’m not into things that are cartoon related and with so many other sweatshirt options, that may not be a keeper. I love the sparkle peplum and really want it although I have nowhere to really wear it. Size M fit well. Did I say I really love it? I do. The combo of the navy/green pullover is great, of course, but don’t wear green no matter how much I want to. I saw it irl. I was surprised that the navy is a sweater knit. I assumed it would be poly crepe. A couple days later I saw the Factory Anya cap-toe flats in succulent green and immediately remembered the Phillip Lim top. Alas, I will admire from afar. I really won’t wear the navy/green. I know it. Yes the grey sweater dress is as 80s as it looks, but it kind of works. It just has to be on the right person. Size S was plenty big on me, but I wouldn’t size down to XS. I’ve seen other things & tried on a couple, but those are the memorable ones for me.
Yes, I think of topics regularly now and just haven’t had the energy. They’re on my mind! And thank you for sharing suggestions.
Thanks for reading my ramble 🙂
