J Crew’s Vega patent perforated sandals (45539, $248) are currently sold out online. Random sizes pop back on occasion. They were available in apricot mist & neon papaya.
Size 8 – Apricot mist. The body of the shoe is almost black. Not quite. Then they took a laser cut piece of patent leather and molded it over the body. That’s the best way to describe how it looks up close. The perforations are perfectly cut. I skimmed the shoes over one or twice and they are all so crisply cut.
I was really, really surprised that the shoe was a little big. I wear 7.5 and always take an 8 in J Crew heels and wedges. In this pic you can see it’s a little big and that’s on my left foot, which is my larger foot. I tried buckling them on the tightest hole & that made the shoe fit better. Until I tried to walk. That didn’t feel right.
In this pic you can see at the heel that the shoe is too big. It wasn’t uncomfortably, floppy-too-big. However, I would still try a foot pad in it. Which is fine because we all know J Crew rarely uses padding in their heels.
Apricot mist is a little too peachy for my skin tone and tnds to clash more than harmonize. Apricot mist didn’t work for me in the Martina patent wedges (review). It looks interesting/ok in the photos, but really didn’t work irl. It more or less works in the Vega because of the perforations. The little holes give it a different cast.
