J. Crew shared their Spring 2017 presentation yesterday at NYFW. It was very cool to see them use the new Instastory feature. They kicked it off with 2 videos of Jenna talking about the energy in the room as they put the final touches on the show. Jenna also let us know that the models they used were friends and people they admire, as opposed to professional models. I had a feeling it was going in that direction based on yesterday’s sneak peek and accompanying caption on J. Crew’s Instagram feed.
I believe you can see Instagram feeds even if you’re not logged into the app, as long as the page isn’t set to private. I don’t think you can view Instastories. You view Instagram pages on your computer, but at the moment you can’t view Instastories on your computer. That’s the new feature that allows users to share pictures and write captions on them, as well as video. Similar to Snapchat, the content disappears in 24 hours. Like a stalker, I screenshot these from J. Crew’s Instastory yesterday, but I couldn’t save the video content.

Stripes! Ticking stripes don’t look that great on me, but I’m convinced I can help one of the two colors dominate by necklace color choice. I always think of the pearl hammock necklace for a top like this. It looks like the skirt has a lace front. It’s nice to see the midi trend continue. I like it even though they don’t often make the skirts in petite length. I like the tan with pink beaded skirt. Very pretty. Apparently that’s a pink gingham shirt under the tan. Check out the current club-collar boy shirt in gingham. I have the bow gingham sandals in the same shade. I never thought to pair them with tan.

I love this the pink-taupe shade And those embroidered dots are pretty. I love the size. They’re so round and festive. When I saw these shots I thought, uh oh, they’re taking it to The Big Top. lol But that’s not the case. The silhouettes were long and baggy, in some cases, but that’s often the case for the presentations. Collection-like. I wonder if the stripe pants are polyester. I’m not a fan of the slides for practicality, but it looks like they have a 1/4″ heel, I like the knot concept and the salmon color.

I wish I could see Amy’s outfit better. Boatnecks are nice. Is the top a split sleeve? I’m going to have to look for more pics online. Middle picture is a repeat. I guess I’m loving it. I did see Ramya’s outfit in a pic online. I think it’s pants, but don’t recall. The shade is pretty and I won’t mind one bit if faux flower pins are back in style. I haven’t stopped wearing mine. I just wear much smaller ones.

Somsack! His Boomerang shot was cute. I’ll have to see Wendell’s outfit online. I think the top was satin…silk? The mother and daughter are cute. Of course I like Michelle’s stripe top. Olympia’s dress looked a little like an apron, but stripes! I just love ’em.

Can you believe I dind’t even notice the stripes? Those earrings are intriguing. Part tassel, part flower, part sea anemone. Can’t wait to see those in-person. Mari has on those beautiful polka dots and that shade! I’m curious tos ee how that skirt works/looks. Is it two skirts or one? I see more satin shoes. I don’t trust myself with the fabric on my feet. Great champagne shade, though.

Hello poms! They’re so cute. The color is punchy pink perfect. Mini’s favorite, highlighter pink. Now I have to take that back about satin shoes because those heels are beau-ti-ful. Can you see the two shades of green? The ankle wrap is darker than the criss-cross at the toe, and then they put a turquoise heel on it? Can’t wait to see those. The middle outfit was questionable because I think I’m seeing paint distressed pants. I will have to see more pics of that one. The third outfit is beautiful. I love the draping and ruffles on the skirt. The coral poms are *muah*. I see she has on satin ankle wrap heels (?), too. Beautiful shade. Maybe I’ll be won over by the satin after all. I aim for practicality, but sometimes we gotta be a sequinned dress in a room of LBDs. Saw that on Instagram somewhere. lol

The guy’s’ stuff, what can we say. It’s interesting to see so many slim silhouettes for men the past couple of years. I wonder if some men feel sized out or haven’t even noticed. lol The final, wrap shot was super cute. I’m not a fan of Boomerang shots, but of course I loved all of J. Crew’s. I didn’t even think about what she’s wearing, so I’ll have to look closely at that one in other pics, too.
I keep mentioning Instagram and hope some of you will be inspired to join. If you miss your favorite bloggers, so many are putting up content on Instagram. And with the recently introduced feature, Instastories, you can hear how people sound and see other parts of their lives. Personally, I never got the hang of Snapchat, so I was thrilled to see Instastories. I don’t like dog and cat face filters, anyway. They totally weird me out, so y’all can keep that, Snapchat. Another thing I like about Instagram over other platforms is it’s generally happy and inspiring. You can avoid the political stuff, in most cases. Tip — don’t sync your Facebook to your Instagram account. Facebook might still notify your friends that you’re on Instagram as so-and-so, but hopefully not if you leave the two disconnected. I’m on Instagram as gigisgoneshopping.
