Running of the Shoppers. Lillygate. Lillygeddon.
Where were you the Night Before Lilly?
I was at the gym at 9p, on Sat, 4/18. I didn’t think merchandise would start showing up until 11p PST at the earliest. I was wrong. My friend started messaging me all of the details, real time. Merchandise was starting to roll out!
I did what any pro shopper would do. Went home to my command station of computer + cell phone to see what I could score. I was interested in the gold pineapple sandals, the charm bracelet and the shift dresses. There were massive technical issues and a lot of gossip flying among the various social media channels. Were the mobile links a hack? Or released, and then revoked, just to rile up shoppers? When would Lilly officially be released? Wait a minute. They took the whole site down. When will it be back online?
As the madness continued and the clock ticked, my interest waned. I gave up after getting 2 shift dresses and went to bed. The activity on Instagram solidified my choice that I didn’t want to head to a store to battle for merchandise. Yesterday I went in to get some L-lysine (an animo acid not produced by the body) and return the 2 dresses. There was a woman lurking around customer service asking questions and waiting for returns. She respectfully glommed onto me once she realized I was returning Lilly. Definitely glommed, but kept her distance so she didn’t freak me out. She took one of the dresses I returned.
Size 6 – See Ya Later shift dress – It’s bright and pretty. I like rounded v-neckline. I don’t believe it has pockets. The pink is bright. The darker embroidery is very bright. Very Lilly. I like it in theory and love a shift, but I didn’t feel the print & colors were a style match.
Size 6 – Upstream shift dress – I was able to fit into this one just a little easier than the one above. I’m 5’0′, 34DD, approx 39″ hip, for sizing reference. I liked this print, too It’s a bit busy, but the white, center embroidery gives it focus. Again, not a personal style match. I might’ve considered keeping this one if it were in the cut of the one above, with the v-neck.
Both dresses hit just above the knee.
Because I’m a pro (crazy!!) shopper, I went back to the fitting rooms one more time. I found this pouch. It’s fresh looking and I’m a sucker for the faux bamboo ring handle. Very vintage inspired. $20.
Lilly for Target boom boom wristlet ($20) – Currently out of stock online, but you can do a store search.
The middle bag is the embroidered neon floral tote ($24.99). I don’t need it, but I totally love it. It also comes in a clutch ($24.99). I don’t see the other totes online, but the one on the left has gold sparkles or sequins.
