Corded dobby trench – Size S (282196, $148) – 93% cotton, 7% poly – I saw this on Chloe and new it had to be mine. She did a great job of describing the material and in experienced fashionistas we trust, so I felt confident about my purchase. Loft shipping feels long and I wanted to see it right away, so I went to the store after confirming that it was available. Love their online store search option! ETA -> I ordered the PM online and I’m glad I did. The regular size S fit very well and the PM will be perfect in the sleeve length and probably an inch shorter. Although I’m fine w/the length of the S. Check it out on Found In My Closet, on J Crew Is My Favorite Store, on Mix and Match Fashion and on Wendy’s Lookbook.
Sleeve length. I’m 5’2″.
Total winner. I loooooove it! ITA concur w/Chloe that it will easily be a top 5 purchase for this fall.
Stripe tie-back tee (285885, $44.50) – 85% rayon, 15% linen and it felt a little scratchy. It has some fullness around the chest, but not exactly dolman sleeve. Cute, but I’m kind of over these rayon tops. If I want one, I’m looking at some $17.80, F21 action, first. I do like the way the tan color blended w/my skin and I like the mustard yellow. I would consider it at the right price. Like if I bump into it on clearance.
I rarely like the gathered bottoms on tops, a Loft signature. They were great when I was pregnant, at certain stages, but pass in general. That said, the top is not overly voluminous and would tuck nicely into a skirt. I would actually try a size SP to be sure I was in the right size.
It’s more like a keyhole back because the tie isn’t tying anything back, per se.
Modern straight leg jeans in rinse wash – 29/8P (285976, $69.50) – 29 is the size that I take in J Crew jeans, if that helps anyone. These fit perfect. They have 7% poly, but that doesn’t bother me. Instructions say to wash before wearing and you should definitely do that. I can see the dye transferring very easily. I use Shout Color Catchers and they tooootally work (Amazon reviews). I washed some things together with my ON chevron skirt that has white in it. Some color spots got on the white. I rewashed the skirt w/some Shout or Resolve for fabrics and a color catcher and they came out. You can see faint color on what the color catcher picks up. Interesting stuff.
Crinkle stripe open front jacket – 6P (281224, $69.50) – 87% linen, 13% nylon. I don’t recall it being lined, so it’s lightweight. I couldn’t really feel it hang on my body. As in, it could flap open and I wouldn’t realize it. As you can see in the above jean pic, the jacket is partially tucked inside itself and I couldn’t feel that when I was wearing it. No buttons. Not that you would want to button it, but without at least one, the jacket lacks polish and finish. It was tight on my arm where the jacket folded. Based on the stock pic, the arm fold is not sewn in place, so you should be able to wear unfolded.
Cheetah print pencil skirt – 8P (287267, $59.50) – 96% cotton, 4% spandex. Leopard preferred, but I currently rank Loft’s cheetah print over JC’s new snowcat print, I.e. boy shirt. Check out another pencil skirt & a few other Loft pieces on Notes From the Dressing Room.
Stone statement necklace (295609, $44.50) – It also comes in red stones w/smaller pale pink, instead of smaller clear stones. This was my favorite of the two. The small clear stones are snaggerific. Mini G dropped it on the grown and three of the stones embedded themselves into the carpet. I had to carefully disengage them. I would be careful what sort of top or sweater I wore with this.
I bought the striped strench online w/promo code PSW25FP. It gets 25% off $100 or more, full priced items only, thru Sun. Free shipping is on $125 or more. The striped trench is my favorite piece. I would also like to own the jeans and the necklace. The jeans I feel are worth full price and the necklace is worth it on promo for sure. That’s my opinion of what I tried on.
I haven’t been to Loft in awhile. The hemlines are still
short on many of the skirts. Fabrication cheaper overall. They had a lot
of poly to begin with, but I can just feel the difference in
construction with my eyes. All retailers are taking shortcuts and we
should hold our wallets a little tighter. I plan to try.
