Split decision. I have the J Crew version and like it quite a bit at the sale price + 30% off. I like the lighter blue color, too. However, I haven’t worn it because it’s definitely too heavy at the moment. It’s probably a spring blazer and cannot be worn in heat unless you are indoors w/A/C. The stripes on the Gap version are kind of railroad, jail stripe-y and that’s a drawback in my book. However, it’s machine wash and we always, always love that. Definitely worth a try at the sale price.
I’ll go with Gap for the win. I bought & returned the J Crew version at least 3x. The first return was due to fit. I needed S, not a M. The next 2 times I returned it because the stripes just didn’t look right on me. I don’t know if it was the light blue in combination w/the width. The black looks good & I kept that one. I’ve seen the Gap version, but didn’t have time to try it on. The stripes are faded, as they look online. The silhouette seems a bit more cropped than J Crew’s, however you can machine wash Gap’s blazer.
Gap knit unstructured blazer – now $42.99 + 30% – – I love little jackets & blazers. I end up not wearing many of them or only wearing sporadically. I saw a mom pushing a stroller the other day who had on a striped knit blazer with a tee, jeans & ballet flats. She looked casual, but hi. I thought that’s it. Her blazer was a knit. So the structure was there, but not the more formal look of other fabrics. I’m definitely trying this one. So cheap w/the addtl 30% off. And machine wash.
7/8 ETA: I ordered this one in 6P. Mostly out of curiosity. I didn’t expect it to work. That’s a pretty big band of white across the chest, but when the jacket is all gussied up in an outfit, it’ll be less noticeable. I have to keep it for the net price I paid. It’s the same as the one above. Casual fabric, but structured. feel. Keep.
7/8 ETA: I think reviewers rated these as running a little big. And look at all that slack all the model. I ordered 6P and couldn’t get them zipped. 8P would be better, but they felt a little low in the rise for my taste. I also didn’t care for the color, which wasn’t light & warm like this. It was more dingy and darker. They looked like a pair of mens pants. Return.
