French-print popover (SP14, A2470, $88) runs 00-16. The color is called french white (FWH). 100% cotton. Machine wash warm, tumble dry low.
Size 6 – This ran a little big and a lot long. I’m 5’0″ according to my recent doctor visit. Still in shock ovaheah that I’m not 5′ 1 1/2.” The fabric felt soft and a little luxurious. Like the sheets w/the good thread count.
I hadn’t really looked at this closely online before seeing ir irl, so I didn’t know what I was looking at when I saw it. I though the pink poodle was some sort of molecule. I thought the croissaint was a snail. I’m thinking snail? I see champagne loud and clear, so escargot? Yeah, this print didn’t click with me. I have figured out what the main deal is. It’s a little cartoony. If you’ve been around for the hen sweater and other sketched graphics reviewed here, I don’t like cartoons or at least don’t want to wear them very much.
Collarless popover in indigo oxford ($78) comes in regular 00-16 (02850), petite 00-12 (A3800) and tall 2-16 (A3806). The color is called faded indigo (FIN). I think we’re currently seeing the “lower spring prices” that have been referenced on The Mothership. Both the top above and this one are $78 and probably would’ve been $88. The dress below is $148 and probably would’ve been priced between $168 – $188.
Size 4 – I’ve been wanting to try this on since it debuted awhile back. There was no 6 to try. When I saw it on the hanger, I knew a 4 would be too small, if it fit at all. This one might suffer the fit issues of the thistle-print popover (review). I think I had to go to an 8 in that one due to the narrow arms.

J. Crew collarless popover in indigo oxford ($78)
Old Navy color-block chambray shirt ($26.94) – on promo today for $15Old Navy tentatively gets my vote. I haven’t seen it. It’s a little 70s, potentially not as modern as J. Crew’s popover. But ugh, another popover. I’m just not feeling excited about ths one. Maybe if I’d been in the right size I’d feel better, but I also think the J Crew version might look a little pajama-y. I know, throw on a couple of necklaces and I’d probably love J. Crew’s, but for now it’s meh.
Side thumb. I forgot to take a pic. Going down another size could make a difference, but the dress is fairly plain overall and doesn’t seek to flatter the shape. Shifts that keep the classic non-fit can still do a figure good if cut properly and the fabric is right. J. Crew & their dresses right now. Sigh.
