J Crew’s Lucille dress in scalloped eyelet (regular 77619, petite 83897, $188) comes in brilliant purple or white. It’s on sale online & in-store for $89.99. Cotton, with a cotton lining. Machine washable.
Size 6 – I have tried on the size 8 (not pictured) and it was too loose at the neckline. 6 is definitely the best size for me. I haven’t been exercising consistently. I’ll get 2 days in a row, then schedule changes and I am off track. I’ve been meaning to share something else I’ve been doing. I wear one of those waist trimmers like this one I’ve had on the sidebar. I’ve owned at least 3 or 4 of them by various vendors. It’s hit or miss with them and they only last so long. The velcro tends to rip the fabric it attaches to. The one I currently have is from Sports Authority. I find that they are often out of stock. Sports Authority was the 3rd place I tried after Wal-Mart & Target and the one I got was the last one remaining at that time. Anyway — if you are able to find one on Amazon & have Prime, plus one that has fairly decent reviews, it may be best to save time and order one. Sometimes I use it overnite with Target’s version of Preparation H to see maximum inches lost. Yeah, I lost 1.5″ the first time I tried it. It’s a temporary loss, but still. I’ll take it. I think this topic deserves its own post, so I’ll work on that.
Back to the dress. It was a little tight in the middle, hence the talk about waist trimmers. But 6 was definitely the correct size. I don’t always go for P dresses at J Crew because I prefer a heel. I like dresses & skirts to hit at the knee cap or just below and once I’m in a heel it starts to get shorter.
White is nice. Not prissy. The thought about it being a dirt magnet crossed my mind. Mini G still has lots of bottles right now, so I could wipe that formula right off the dress and keep going thruout my day. However, I have the Delaney eyelet dress from last year, so white was not speaking to me in this dress. Perhaps it gets a teense dowdy if I wear flats with it, but I’m hoping it doesn’t in the purple. If so, so what. I will feel good in it and that’s what counts. Plus, I am not trying to pull.
Nice dress darts. (snicker) That bugged me a little bit, but I’m hoping the darts aren’t as noticeable in the purple cuz that’s the color I bought. I assume the darts fit better to the body as you wear the dress.
7/5 ETA: Size 8 – Purple often photographs in the dressing room as more blue than purple. The shade isn’t as faded or blue as you may see on your monitor.
Notice how the neckline puckers. That’s how I gauged that this is not the correct size.
Plus it gapes at the under arm. I have the size 6 in this color. Looking to wear it with a brown belt.
