J Crew’s two-tone circle skirt ($250) is a Collection item. It comes in regular (49604) and petite (51570). The color is called saddle. 69% wool/26% nylon/2% acrylic/1% poly/1% cotton/1% rayon, 100% acetate lining.
Size 4 – waist = 28.5″, hip = 54″, length 25″
Size 6 – waist = 29.5″, hip = 45″, length 25.5″
Size P6 – waist = 28.5″, hip = 54″, length 23″
Size P8 – waist = 29.5″, hip = 45″, length 23.25″
Size 6 – I have it pulled up high on the waist and I couldn’t get the 6 buttoned. I am usually a 4 or 6P in J Crew bottoms. I took a 6 in the flair skirt in floating rose, which is also meant to sit higher on the waist. I am 9 wks post partum, so there is still lots going on in the belly area. However, given that I can fit the 6 in the flair (albeit tight) and cannot fit the 6 in this — I think either I tried on one that was sewn smaller/mis-tagged. Or, those of us with thicker middles will have fit issues, maybe needing to go up 2 sizes. So if you take 4 or 6, instead of picking the larger of your 2 sizes, you might have to go up one more to 8. If you have a very small waist, you might stick to your regular size or larger of your J Crew sizes. I wish the chat feature was available as I draft this, because I’d ask for the measurements and share them.
Like I said. Couldn’t close the skirt at all.
The fabric felt nice enough, but the skirt isn’t as eye catching in-person as it is on the website. They have it styled nicely. Irl it looks like two felt blankets sewn together. I would definitely have to employ the must have 3 ways to wear it idea before committing to this one. The colors are very neutral, though, so it shouldn’t be too hard.
I don’t have to have the garment knowledge of xoxo or WFF to know they cheapened out on this. I’ve sewn exactly one thing on my entry level Brother sewing machine and that was 6 years ago. I sewed a straight line like this. Tell me that ain’t bull.
So you get a little of this. You can pull the gray fabric away from the camel. I didn’t like that. Don’t worry J Crew, I can’t quit chu!, but I have no plans to buy this. Check it out on Jenna Lyons, on Slastena and on Dani BP.
