Size 8 – Per usual, I’m 7.5 and taking my usual J Crew size of 8. These fit very comfortably right off the bat. The leather is soft, but sturdy. Supple, is the word that comes to mind.
I absolutely love the design of the heel. Blocky, but not chunky. If it’s too chunky, it can make the leg look heavy. There is a sleekness to this design.
There’s a little room at the heel for my foot, which actually is not a good thing. However, the strap really keeps the shoe on and makes walking very easy. I never feel like they’re going to come off or my heel is going to slip around all day long.
Now that I’ve worn the shocking pink Maris, I have to reduce the comfort rating down a few notches. After walking for a period of time, the bottom of my pinky toe hurt. I put an OUCH on the picture right at the spot. I started to do that awful hobble thing as if I was wearing cheap shoes. Or maybe it was a down-on-his-luck pimp walk. I dunno. But I do know that when when standing for a period of time, I had to sit down because of the pressure on my pinky toe. The next time I wear them I will try Band-Aid blister block. My toe is folded on the bottom — just skip over that — and usually doesn’t cause me any problems when wearing shoes. I was really surprised. I think my toe is getting stuck. the block will provide some slide and will hopefuly alleviate the problem.
I love the way they look from the front. This is when cafe capris or rolled chinos are welcome. You can show of the shoe design. The straps really wrap onto the feet, so the shoes look great w/dresses as well.
